A Bit About Rebecca
I am originally from Auburn, California. I moved to Nashville to pursue my music career as an educator and performer. Currently I teach private lessons at my home studio in Donelson, Shiloh Music in Mt. Juliet, and in Bellevue. My current music project is a set of traditional Celtic tunes amped up with the electric violin.
I have a Bachelor of Music from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and Master of Education in Music Education from the University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA.
I have been playing the violin since I was 6 years old. I began with the Suzuki Method and completed all 10 books, which was a wonderful achievement. Fiddle music has also been a big part of my life since I was a kid. I am lucky enough to have a musical family, and our house was often a gathering place for our family and friends to play music.
As an adult, I have traveled throughout Ireland studying the traditional music. Celtic music is a passion of mine. While in Ireland, I took lessons from master Irish fiddlers Martin Hayes and Tommy Peoples, and attended music festivals including the Willie Clancy Festival in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare Ireland. As a professional musician, I have performed in Northern California with many different bands. I have also performed internationally (England, Ireland, Scotland) with the acclaimed Americana band, The Arlenes. In Nashville I have connected with talented musicians, done session recording and have performed with several local bands. I also play for events and weddings.
